Recent Anthropology Alumni Successes

Emma Abell-Selby (M.A. Anthropology, 2022) is continuing Ph.D. work at the University of South Florida after matriculating in Fall 2022. Having recently published part of her M.A. thesis in Human Organization, this Spring Emma published a co-authored article, "From Rhetoric to Reality: Why We Need an Anthropology of Higher Education Policy," with her dissertation advisor Karla L. Davis-Salazar in American Anthropologist

K.C. McNaughton (B.A. Anthropology and Sexuality Studies, 2020) was accepted to nursing programs at Columbia University, Seattle University, and UCLA. This Spring, K.C. will be starting the Master's Direct Entry for Non-Nurses program at Columbia University to become a Registered Nurse. Continuing her professional experience in harm reduction research, K.C.'s goal is to improve health outcomes for people who use drugs.

Bird Sellergren (M.A. Anthropology, 2024) is currently completing an Ed.D. at SFSU under the supervision of George Barganier (Criminal Justice). They were also accepted to the Ph.D. program in Education at UC Berkeley (Language, Literacy, and Culture cluster) and will matriculate this Fall to complete both degrees concurrently. Bird is the founder of Bay Area Autism Collective and also works as an autism coach.
