Inaugural Marcyliena Morgan student award will be given to Guinevere Mendivil

Guinevere is an SF Scholars student developing MA thesis research that will entail "conducting an ethnography of independent and DIY (Do-It-Yourself) scenes, examining punk, hardcore, folk punk, and other alternative music communities." As she writes, "The goal of my project is to observe the ways Bay Area alternative music communities support themselves through mutual systems of care, shared identity, and how they perpetuate and ensure their communities grow.
